The Mayor of Cartago brings good news to the people of the province. They will benefit from 877 new jobs brought to the province between the end of this year and 2021. These positions will be at Edwards Lifesciences.
The American multinational company manufactures components of heart valves in the Lima free zone of Costa Rica. It works in the field of precision and medical equipment. The company will create 287 new positions this year and another 590 next year.
The company opened its plant in 2016. Last year, it opened a second plant in the country. Along with that, came the announcement, in December, 2019, that, by the end of 2020, the payroll would increase from 630 to 1,100.
Those interested in the positions must have graduated 9th grade and have high manual skills. They must be able to perform careful processes as each heart valve contains over 1,000 sutures made by hand.
