A Costa Rican firefighter, Angie Solís, 33, took second place in the Central American Champion of Firefighting Challenges, which was held in Chile and included 1,600 contestants.
She showed off great skill and strength as well as a cool head under pressure. It seems she was born to be a firefighter. When she was about 12 years old, she asked firefighters how she could help when they came to help her neighbors. Since that moment she knew what she wanted to do when she grew up.
And her dream came true. She volunteered for the Benemerito Fire Corps of Costa Rica and now has a permanent position. She holds life and death in her hands and helps others selflessly. She is known for working well with her team.
She was one of the few women invited to take part in the challenge, which included fighting fires and carrying 20-kilo hoses long distances. She was well prepared between her time at the fire station of Barrio Luján and time training Crossfit.
