Costa Rica News – A 47-year-old man, from San Rafael de Heredia, has drowned in Jacó beach.
This tragedy occurred on Sunday morning, when he was dragged out by a wave in Hermosa Beach, Jacó, Puntarenas.
The Red Cross detailed the accident alert was at 9:05 am. Other bathers saw the man floating and called for help. When the paramedics arrived on the scene, they found the man lifeless.
One vacationer who witnessed the event said that a giant wave came and dragged several people but this man couldn’t get out in time. When he was brought out of the sea, he was already dead. Agents of the Judicial Investigation Agency removed his body.
The victim has been identified as Roberto Miranda Palma, the father of a 24-year-old daughter.
The Red Cross recommends that those going on vacation look for places with lifegueards, never go swimming alone, and always ask the locals about the current behaviors of the sea in the area. If caught by a current, stay calm and swim parallel to the shore or float.
