Costa Rica News – The Cueva de Luz building will go from paying ¢135,000 per month for electricity to just ¢65,000. This is thanks to solar panels carrying power to the training center, a place that makes a difference in its community.
This building is where 1,000 children and young people receive free art classes and sports training. The center is dedicated to providing a social assistance and is for any action leading to savings in costs, especially one that also helps the environment.
The installation included 16 solar panels. The generation will be during the day when there is sun and they will switch to electrical energy at night. The community center now enjoys a 52% decrease in the electric bill.
This change also implies an annual decrease of almost a ton of CO2 emissions, which do much damage to the ozone layer. The project is designed to provide 7,230 kWh of clean energy per year.
