Costa Rica Healthcare News – A cardiologist, Sofía Bogantes Ledezma, has been revealing, over the last three years, the deaths of patients awaiting cardiac surgery for catheters.
She is now denouncing 103 more deaths, making the complaint in the hopes that the CCSS will take sufficient actions to reduce the waiting list.
Bogantes was quoted saying “The new situation that has occurred is very serious, we demand an intervention by Hospital México to determine administrative responsibility, not one more death.”
103 lives lost due to cardiac problems that could have been fixed is outrageous. Undeca, the National Union of Employees of the Caja, will provide evidence for the Public Ministry to expand the investigation.
A study by the Caja admits to only 34 of the deaths but still not even one person should die because of lack of room in the schedule, specialists, or equipment. There are still 800 people waiting for this particular surgery.
