A Canadian woman who was in Costa Rica has been diagnosed with the covid-19 coronavirus. She began to have symptoms while on her flights home, from March 7th to 9th after a trip to Liberia, Guanacaste.
It was when she arrived in her country that she was tested in an isolated area. All protocols were followed to prevent the spread to medical personnel or other patients. When she received the result, on March 11th, she was quarantined at home.
Those who were on the same flights as her have been contacted and asked to isolate for 14 days, monitor their health, and notify a doctor if they develop any respiratory symptoms.
A doctor from the Halton Health Center in Ontario confirmed that the risk in the community is low at this time. They are working to identify any potential health risks and identify contacts of the woman.
