Civil Aviation had to intervene on a flight going from Guatemala to Panama in order to review a suspected case of the new coronavirus. The flight, Copa 788, landed in Costa Rica at 3:30 p.m. yesterday.
It’s take off was delayed and passengers were taken to a special room. Protocols were followed to keep them far away from other passengers and near a place with ambulance access in case one was needed.
There were two cases associated with a suspected case but authorities ruled out the presence of the virus and the departure of the plane to Tocumen International Airport was scheduled for 10:45 pm. Passengers who were meant to transfer to other flights will be flown out today.
Each passenger was interviewed by staff from the Red Cross and the Costa Rican Social Security Fund, as per protocol. The normal flow of flight arrivals and departures was not interrupted.
