Costa Rica Sports – Andrey Amador is basking in the triumph of his latest win in professional cycling.
It’s his second win and he had to wait six years for it, since his first was six years ago at the Giro d’Italia.
The Costa Rican crossed the finish line yesterday, April 8th, with arms raised and a great smile. The country celebrated with him. He had promised himself another win and stuck to the goal.
He dedicated this victory to his daughter Gretta. Ever since his he and his girlfriend got pregnant, he said he would not forgive himself if his daughter did not see him on a podium. Two months after her birth he made it to the podium.
Aside from the title, the Movistar Team Costa Rican rider got the “txapela,” the Basque beret. Amador will race again on April 15th, at the Amstel Gold Race. Three days later, he will be at the Walloon Flecha and then again on the 22nd he will compete at Liège – Bastogne – Liège.
