Our new Miss Costa Rica, Paola Chacón, crowned on July 19, has made a public apology for comments she made in a private audio that was leaked and spread around. In it she made comments about other contestants the night before the final competition.
In her defense, she intended it as a private conversation. She feels betrayed that they were made public but apologizes for the comments nonetheless. She does not plan on taking any legal action against those who leaked the audio.
Her focus now is to look toward the future and prepare to represent the country in Miss Universe. Those specific comments do not represent who she is normally. It was a mistake to speak like that and she has learned from this experience. She will go on to represent all the other girls like her, normal, hardworking girls who sometimes make mistakes.
“Now as Miss Costa Rica, I want to represent the simple, hardworking woman, who, despite the obstacles, struggles every day to move forward and fulfill what was proposed. I am a normal girl,” she explained.
