Costa Rica News – Amazon is expanding its operations in Costa Rica and will hire 1,500 people, 350 of them for the Seller Support Hub, the center that provides support for small and medium companies.
The company currently employs over 6,500 workers and will have 8,000 by the end of 2018. It all began with just 30 employees in 2009.
The new operation is to be in the El Tobogán Corporate Center.
Amazon attributes the growth to the quality of human talent in the country. The company requires employees to have degrees ranging from high school to very high levels, handle languages, and have skills such as customer service, software development or finance.
The country also offers social stability, a free zone legal framework, and coordination between the Foreign Trade Promoter(Procomer), the Ministry of Foreign Trade(Comex) and the Costa Rican Coalition of Development Initiatives(Cinde).
