Costa Reopening & COVID Cases Increase

Restaurants are opening until 7pm with 50% occupancy this weekend as part of the gradual reopening plan. This is not a sign to let your guard down, authorities warn. There were 34 new covid-19 cases on Friday.

In the last 90 days, since the virus first presented in the country, there have been 1,228 cases, with 695 recoveries and 10 deaths. There are 22 hospitalized, including four in the Intensive Care Unit. They are aged 55 to 72.

This Wednesday was the peak in new cases, with 52. Prior to that, 37 was the peak. There’s an orange alert in five districts and an extended vehicle restriction in 10 border cantons and five rivers.

Authorities ensure there are enough supplies to keep medical personnel safe. They are also optimistic about three developing treatments, one with convalescent plasma, another with purified antibodies, and a third from antibodies developed against the virus in horses.
