Costa Rica Food & Dining – Aroma Tico Restaurante & Cafetería offers a great gastronomic variety put together by Don Rigoberto Murillo Herrera and his family for more than 12 years. They serve breakfast, lunch, coffee and dinner, during the hours of 6am to 8pm every day of the week.
Aroma Tico is a restaurant as well as a typical Costa Rican cafe. With one quick stop here you can get a good, filling meal for your day ahead as well as enjoy a delicious recently ground coffee accompanied by a spectacular dessert made by Mrs. Elizabeth Murillo Paniagua (wife of Mr. Rigoberto Murillo) and her excellent work team. It’s found at the entrance to Tilarán, between Monteverde and Arenal, thus is a natural and smart stopping point.
They serve authentic Costa Rican cuisine. The food is incredible and this place should definitely make your list when in the area. I recommend the pinto with homemade sour cream, the typical “picadillo” of green plantain, and agua dulce. Some other favorites include olla de carne, enchiladas, black bean soup and fajitas made to taste.
The staff gives their full attention to customers. The service is fast. There is a buffet and you can also order a la carte. The restaurant is clean and has a tropical feel. The ambiance is great for families and groups. There are sometimes special events with music such as “Domingo de Marimba y Chicharrones.” Wi-Fi is available on site. The place is geared toward tourists yet prices are fair. Credit cards are accepted.
You can feel good about supporting this company as they are making a difference in their community. For example, they were the official sponsor of a live transmission of a marathon between Monteverde and Tilarán and they also sponsor the “noticiero de Tilarán.”
