2 Foreigners Crossing Costa Rica Border Illegally Have COVID19

There are two new cases of covid-19 in Costa Rica. They correspond to foreigners who entered the country irregularly from the north. The men were apprehended and were being held at the Central Regional Apprehension Center in Heredia.

The Ministry of Health and the General Directorate of Migration indicated that the men had symptoms since April 30th. Their tests came back positive yesterday. Now that it has been confirmed that they are positive, the rest of the detainees and workers must be tested.

Both men are stable and in isolated areas.

Since March 17, family visits to people apprehended in the center have been suspended, a measure to avoid infections.

As of Saturday, there were 733 cases of covid-19 in the country. These two cases will be added to the number on the epidemiological report that will be shared today at noon.
