Costa Rica Soccer Player Receives Awards in USA

Costa Rica Sports – A young Tico football player, Carlos Coto, age 21, has received three awards in the United States.

He was in the minor leagues before he went to the US in 2014 to fulfill his soccer dream.

José Rodríguez, president of Futbol Consultants helped him with the process to go to New York. He was observed in Costa Rica a few times before being offered a scholarship at the age of 21. He studies Psychology at the New York Institute of Technology and lives alone in New York. He works giving tours of the campus and coaching children.

The first prize awarded to him was the First Team All-ECC, placing him among the best 11 players in the Eastern Conference of the United States, which consists of 10 teams. The second was Honorable Mention by the ECAC. The third is as part of the Third Team All Region.

Coto received the news of the awards calmly but very happily. He was also named captain for the third consecutive season. He will go on to study for a PhD in Sports Psychology.
