Costa Rica’s National Theater Declared a Patriotic Symbol

Costa Rica News – The National Theater is declared a patriotic symbol.

The bill to grant this endowment to the historic property was promoted by several deputies and 40 in total approved it in the second debate, on Monday, February 5th.

The draft was first presented to the Legislative Assembly in October 2017, by Fred Herrera, director of the cultural house. 15 congressmen supported the popular initiative at that time.

The declaration of the National Theater of Costa Rica as a National Symbol of Historical-Architectural Heritage and Cultural Freedom is something that brings joy and pride to many Costa Ricans.

This brings the number of national symbols up to 14. The theater will be added to the public school curriculum. The director of the theater said he is “deeply grateful to the deputies” for consecrating the importance of this building.
