Nine ladies are competing to be Miss Costa Rica 2019 and represent the country abroad. Each one has prepared intensively. It’s not just a one-night event, rather months of practice and smaller press events leading up to the crowning. They have classes on how to catwalk. They do tons of physical exercise. They go through months of training and rehearsals for the big night.
Each of the girls has had to overcome to get where they are. Afterall, they are putting themselves out there to be judged, something not for the weak. Anyone’s self-confidence can shake under such scrutiny. Some admit they have stopped reading comments after discovering flaws they didn’t notice before.
The women are undeniably beautiful but Miss Costa Rica goes well beyond that. It is an important platform. It allows them to work on modeling skills, personal development, public speaking, and prepares them for future employment. One of them will be what the world sees of our country, an honor they all hope for.
