Where Are the Hooters Going in Costa Rica?

Hooters is closing its restaurant in Moravia because of the “particular circumstances of the area that have arisen during the last year.” The casual food chain declined to provide further details.

The announcement was made on the brand’s Facebook. Its other locations, San Pedro, Heredia, Pinares, Alajuela, and Escazú will remain open. The location being closed was open less than three years. It seems the sales levels needed to sustain operations were not met. This is unfortunate for the 18 employees who will be laid off. The chain is otherwise financially healthy and no more closures are anticipated.

Running a restaurant is hard with so much competition in the gastronomic market. There are food trucks popping up and services like Uber Eats and Glovo bringing food to homes and businesses. There are not enough customers for the number of restaurants and related services. Applebees also closed. Burger King, Pizza Hut, Subway, and Quiznos are actually expanding.
