Cartago Road Improvements in Costa Rica

In a few years, the drive to and from Cartago will be a breeze. Currently, it’s torturous. A four-level interchange, tunnel, roundabout, and overpass will significantly change the commute of 40,000 vehicles daily.

The relief will come in the form of two intersections, of three and four levels. According to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the construction will begin in October in Taras and La Lima.

The company awarded the contract is H Solís-Estrella consortium. The funds will come from the Inter-American Development Bank. This was signed off on by the Minister of Public Works and Transport.

The project should take 28 months from the start date. By the end, those going between the Florencio del Castillo highway and Cartago will be able to do so without stopping. Additionally, sidewalks, bus bays, and bicycle lanes will be created.
