Coronavirus Update in Costa Rica

The covid-19 situation continues to change the world we knew. In Costa Rica, there have been 681 patients. Even so, the authorities are working on ways to lift the various sanitary measures safely.

The Minister of Health, Daniel Salas, praised the majority of Costa Ricans for obeying protocols such as hand washing, quarantining, and travel restrictions. He also praised the country’s timely measures to prevent the spread of the virus.

12 new cases were found on Wednesday, including one citizen who entered the country via a flight from Houston on Monday. 355 men and 326 women have been infected. The patients range in age from 1 to 87. There have been 34 seniors, 61 adults, and 34 minors. 180 of them have recovered. 11 remain in the hospitals, including 8 in intensive care. 6 have died from the virus.

Now specialists analyze the epidemiological picture and try to see what we can expect in the future. The virus will be present here for many more months. Authorities stress that even as restrictions are lifted, things are not back to normal. We should continue social distancing and hand washing. The situation is still fragile as most people have not yet been exposed to the virus. We must continue to protect ourselves and others by following protocols.
