Close to 4000 Costa Ricans Caught Disobeying Coronavirus Vehicle Restrictions

Since the start of sanitary vehicle restrictions, 3,901 drivers have been caught disrespecting it. When it was noted that so many were breaking this law, the fine was increased from ₡23,415 to ₡107,000.

Still, from 5am Saturday to 5am Sunday, 689 drivers were fined specifically for breaking this restriction, and many more for other offenses.

381 people were ticketed for disrespecting the day restriction. Those with license plates ending with 0, 2, 4, 6, and 8 were not supposed to drive during the day. 594 were fined for other traffic violations and four more for drunk driving.

Additionally, 308 people were fined for disregarding the nighttime restriction. During the night, there were eight drunk drivers and 816 other traffic violations.

There are a great number of people ignoring just about everything the Government advises for public safety. Because of this, there are now 435 sick people in Costa Rica.
