Costa Rica News – Beware of any calls claiming to be from the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce (MEIC).
MEIC has alerted authorities to a scam strategy where someone is making calls pretending to be from MEIC.
The fraudulent calls are about electronic invoices and digital signatures. The scammers call asking about digital billing. They offer advice on accessing a site and complete procedures in which personal passwords are required.
This call is related to the page costarica.regulations.org. This page is not official from MEIC or the government. Government sites and all official pages of the public sector always end in go.cr.
The public is advised not to provide any personal or company information. Additionally, please report these calls. The police and judicial authorities have been alerted to the false website and calls.
