Tourists Robbed in Tortuguero Costa Rica

Costa Rica News – 15 tourists were robbed on Sunday while on their way to Tortuguero. Thieves from the area dressed as day laborers to commit the crime.

They hid in a banana plantation at Finca Palacios, in Pococí de Limón. They then assaulted a bus that carried the tourists.

They placed items in the street to force the bus to stop and made the driver open the door. They were armed. They fled the scene with laptops, digital cameras, a tablet, suitcases, credit cards and cash, in dollars, euros and colones.

The Public Force works in the area and will mobilize resources to that site to avoid this happening again, according to the deputy director of the Public Force of the Caribbean region.

They will also carry out vehicular controls and strengthen communication with local residents and tourist businesses.

The suspects have still not been found.

If anything out of the ordinary is noticed, the public is urged to alert the police but if you are in direct danger the police say to give the thieves what you have.
