Costa Rica COVID Restrictions for the Rest of July

One of the major changes to sanitary restrictions from July 18 to 31st is that it is now compulsory to wear masks at bus stops. Additionally, public transport may now operate regularly but without passengers standing. Home delivery service can work throughout the country.

There have been some areas that have dropped from an orange alert to a yellow alert. It’s important to know which alert you are under so as to follow the correct regulations.

In orange alert areas, vehicle circulation, by license plate number, is from 5am to 5pm and is to be used only for transfer to authorized establishments such as supermarkets, medical centers, banks, veterinary clinics and supply shops, hardware stores, and repair shops, among other similar establishment types. Restaurants, salons, shops, cinemas, museums, parks, bars, and places of worship are not allowed to operate on weekends.

In the rest of the country, which is under yellow alert, phase 3 of reopening is underway from 5am to 7pm. Places of worship can operate with a maximum of 75 people, hotels at 50%, restaurants, shops, museums, cinemas, and theaters on weekends at 50%, and beaches from 5am to 9:30am.
