WHO Classifies Costa Rica as a Country With Community Transmission

The World Health Organization has categorized Costa Rica as a country now in community transmission of covid-19, meaning the trace of the virus has been lost. The Ministry of Health has been unable to manage 4,000 to 5,000 health orders per day.

Because of this, the Minister of Health granted permission to the Costa Rican Social Security Fund (CCSS) to issue sanitary isolation orders to those who test positive as well as their close contacts and anyone suspected of carrying the virus.

This measure is intended to help authorities regain control of the pandemic in Costa Rica. Ultimately, there is a goal to find all of the infected patients and get back to traceability as well as pinpoint where to carry out more tests.

649 infections were found in a single day, last Thursday. For each one, multiple sanitary isolation orders must be given out because they are given to the patients and to their close contacts. If not done in a timely manner, people will be walking around transmitting the virus without even knowing they have been exposed to it.

By incorporating the CCSS, the Ministry of Health greatly increases its ability to trace, notify, and isolate patients.
