Costa Rica Records Highest COVID Fatality Day

Yesterday, we saw the highest number of covid-19 deaths in a single day. Four individuals passed away. Three men and a woman, aged 43-81, who were hospitalized, lost their lives. They each had preexisting conditions as well.

The first death happened at dawn at the San Juan de Dios Hospital. It was a 43-year-old man who had been in intensive care since the first day he was diagnosed, July 8. Aside from covid-19, he had risk factors including bronchial asthma and obesity.

At 7 am, at nearby Calderón Guardia Hospital, another victim lost his life. He had been diagnosed and in intensive care since July 9. He also suffered from high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity.

Hours later two more deaths occurred. An 81-year-old man had been hospitalized in the Specialized Patient Care Center since July 4. In addition to covid-19 he had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and was a smoker. A 46-year-old foreign woman had been hospitalized at the San Juan de Dios Hospital since July 12. She had lung cancer in addition to covid-19.

Those with risk factors are urged to go to a medical center at once for any symptom, even if they are not insured.
