Costa Rica Closes Termales del Bosque Resort Due to Debt

The CCSS has forced Termales del Bosque to close because of its debt. The resort owes ₡235 million. The tourist center is located in La Marina de La Palmera, San Carlos. It will be closed for at least 5 days.

Authorities from the CCSS and the Public Force came in on Friday to shut the place down, evicting everyone including workers and moving several national and foreign tourists to a nearby hotel.

The hotel has about 30 employees on its payroll. All are now without work waiting to see what will happen with the company’s debt. The ₡235 million owed is in employer labor quotas.

Additionally, the company has debts with three other institutions, the Social Development and Family Allowances Fund, the National Learning Institute, and the Mixed Institute of Social Assistance.
