Plan to Use Explosives Near National park in Costa Rica

A group of people intended to place explosives 300 meters from a National Park on Independence Day, September 15. The group was dismantled by a joint force including the OIJ, Prosecutor’s Office, and the Directorate of Intelligence and Security, on Tuesday.

The police intervened a bus from the southern zone at which point they seized two explosive devices with timers, similar to those placed in front of Teletica but even more dangerous because of the use of shrapnel which is meant to cause injuries or death.

The investigation that showed the explosive material was to be transferred by bus led to involving the Ministry of Public Security and the Drug Control Police to stop the bus and intervene. The Special Intervention Unit also participated as they are the specialists in explosive devices.

Agents found out in which house the devices were produced. Suspects were captured on Tuesday in different parts of the country. They are suspected of possession of explosive devices or fire or explosion offenses.
