Costa Rica Healthcare – There’s some good news. You don’t need to get any shots before coming to Costa Rica.
The only recommendation is to bring lots of bug spray since mosquitoes can carry various diseases but this problem is easily controllable with some insect repellent.
If you do fall ill or have an accident of some sort while in Costa Rica, you can go to any public hospital and they will treat you. They will later bill you.
Additionally, there are private hospitals that accept many types of insurance but you will have to pay upfront.
For anything minor, approach a pharmacy.
Many pharmacies here have doctors and can do many of the same things that they would do at a hospital and for a better price and next to no wait time, compared to hours in a public hospital.
