Costa Rica Participating in Climate Change Summit

The head of Costa Rica’s Climate Change Directorate, Andrea Meza, sees the COP25 climate summit in a positive way and believes the country has a relevant role in the event.

The conference opened on Monday and will continue through December 12. It’s being held in Madrid, Spain. The Climate Change Directorate, part of the Ministry of Environment and Energy, is there to participate in negotiations.

The involvement of Costa Rica in the summit has been picked up on by international press which adds to the positive environment for foreign investment in the country which is seen as aligned with global interests.

Ambitions for the COP include seeing countries make nationally determined contributions and long-term strategies towards the 1.5 degrees Celsius target and zero net emissions by 2050.
