Investment in the San Carlos Region of Costa Rica

San Carlos is now seen as having a better investment climate than it did before. More and more technology companies are opening in the area and free zones and business parks are being created.

Additionally, there are improvements in bilingual education, public infrastructure, roads, practices, and opportunities for residents and tourists. The region is full of innovation, according to the Northern Zone Development Agency.

Exports from the northern areas grew and eceeded $2 billion last year. A higher value-added supply of ayote and bananas are being produced. Productivity is up and good practices such as carbon neutrality are in place. The Pelletis firm manufactures carbon neutral fuel from wood waste in the area.

The area is home to the English Teaching Congress and the San Carlos Technology Summit. The availability of talent is ever growing as are the job opportunities. Many who had to move to San Jose to find work are coming back and finding great jobs close to home.

The health and tourism sectors are also being improved. The hot springs and adventure activities have long drawn tourists to the region. A cycle path is going to be constructed to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Arenal volcano.
