5 Confirmed Cases of Coronavirus in Costa Rica

The Ministry of Health has confirmed that there are now five cases of the new Covid-19 coronavirus in the country. A foreign couple and three nationals are infected.

The American couple both tested positive for the virus although the husband does not have symptoms. The wife’s symptoms are mild. They are isolated and receiving medical attention in a hotel.

A Costa Rican man, as well as his aunt and his caretaker also tested positive. The three are isolated in public hospitals. The man is in delicate condition and his aunt and caregiver are in stable condition.

There is no active transmission in Costa Rica but the public is urged to take precautions anyway. Those who are coughing, sneezing, or have colds should avoid public events. Everyone should remain calm, as 80% of the cases of this infection manifest mildly.
