Update on Coronavirus Patients in Costa Rica

There are now 27 cases of the coronavirus covid-19 in Costa Rica. Four of them are in the hospital, one in delicate condition. 415 samples have been tested. Aside from the 27, all the rest were negative.

The cases are spread out through San Jose, Guanacaste, Cartago, Alajuela and Heredia. 22 of them are adults, two children, and three senior citizens. 15 are women.

While the increase in cases has been low, we shouldn’t relax about it. We must continue to wash our hands frequently, practice hygiene when coughing or sneezing and avoid mass gatherings.

Everyone must collaborate against the spread of the virus. Keep in mind that many more people may be incubating the virus and exhibit symptoms in a few days.

The country has been on a yellow alert since March 8. Since then, mass events have been cancelled, the maximum number of occupants of bars, cinemas, buses, and trains cut in half, public employees sent home to telecommute, and schools with risk factors closed.
