Costa Rica Bars, Discos and More Are Threaten to be Closed if They Don’t Abide by Occupancy Rules

The Ministry of Health threatens to close bars, discotheques, and cinemas that fail to comply with restrictions on occupancy. They are ordered to lower their capacity by half as a measure to help stop the spread of covid-19.

At least 29 complaints have been received, reporting places that did not comply. The Minister of Health expressed his anger at the failure to follow the order meant to greatly help public health.

The country struggles to contain the spread of covid-19. Those who violate the orders put forth by the health authorities will be shut down entirely. Authorities will be making surprise visits.

Disrespecting the order puts lives at risk. Mass events have been cancelled. Bars and cinemas are only allowed open because they are not as large and can be cut down even more. This is called social distancing.

It is also recommended that we practice social distancing in interpersonal relationships. An example is greeting others with a wave rather than a handshake, hug, or kiss.
